With its cold, refreshing, menthol scent, peppermint essential oil is useful all year round. Peppermint energizes, stimulates and helps to concentrate. It is super useful when suffering with respiratory illnesses such as bronchitis, pneumonia etc. It is one of the most effective aromatherapy remedies for headaches and nausea. Peppermint has this unique property � it cools you down when it is hot, and warms you up when it is cold. It also stimulates sweat glands, so it is perfect to use in sauna! Peppermint essential oil blends well with other essential oils such lavender, tea tree, rosemary, eucalyptus, grapefruit, lemon and pine. Because of its strong menthol scent, it is not recommended for pregnant women, nursing mums, children under 3 years of age, people with asthma, epilepsy and high blood pressure! Best practice is to use peppermint essential oil during the day, avoid evenings, and within moderation.
How to use:
� In case of bronchitis, sinusitis, pneumonia use peppermint essential oil in a diffuser. Mix peppermint with eucalyptus or rosemary essential oils to enhance the effect. These essential oils have strong disinfection effect on the airways, stimulate immune system and helps to recover faster. Furthermore, essential oils cleanse the air, and prevents infection from spreading around the house! 6 to 8 drops of essential oil will be enough for the diffuser.
� When travelling long distances, use peppermint oil in the car! It promotes concentration and prevents from falling asleep.
� Give your home that feeling of extra freshness and cleanliness by blending peppermint with grapefruit essential oil. 3 drops of peppermint oil with 5 drops of grapefruit oil in your diffuser will do an amazing job!
� During winter season, add 10 drops of peppermint essential oil to the bucket of water, dip the cloth or a mop into the bucket and clean your furniture surfaces and floors, this will give your home extra freshness.
� If your nose is congested, apply a drop of pure peppermint oil on your palms, rub them together and inhale it for 30 � 60 seconds. The same way of inhalation is useful if you have a headache or nausea.
� Peppermint oil is great in sauna! Pour hot water into a metal bowl or a tin, add 20 to 30 drops of essential oil, keep it in the hottest corner of sauna, and enjoy the scent!
� If you have a headache, get half a teaspoon of lotion, natural oil, add few drops of pepermint oil and rub the mixture into your forehead, temple, back of the neck and shoulders. It will be an instant help and relief. Never use pure peppermint essential oil on larger areas of skin, menthol can irritate it.
� On the occasion of bloating, indigestion, constipation peppermint oil is a great help, since it tones digestive system. Massage your tummy in circular motion, clockwise with 5ml of any vegetable oil and 3 to 4 drops of peppermint oil. Repeat it several times a day.
� During summer time, when the days are hot, use peppermint oil to cool you down. In 200ml of unscented shower gel add 20 droplets of oil, mix well and wash your body! It will give you cooling and refreshing sensation. You could also experiment, and give a little twist to your daily shampoo too, it will make your hair look shinier!
� After a long day, after wearing high heels our feet get tired and sometimes swollen. Make yourself a relaxing and cooling feet bath: to a handful of salt add 5 drops of peppermint essential oil, add that salt to a bowl of water and soak your feet for 10 to 15 minutes.
� If you overworked in the gym, have sore muscles, painful joints or a tear in ligament, massage those sore areas with the following blend:
50ml of sweet almond oil + 5 drops of peppermint + 5 drops of lavender + 2 drops of chamomile (if you have it).
� Peppermint oil has antibacterial and refreshing properties, so it is great for mouth rinses, especially for those with dental problems. Make your own mouthwash/mouth rinse by mixing a teaspoon of salt with 2 to 3 drops of peppermint oil, and dissolve it in a glass of warm water. Rinse your mouth several times a day. It is recommended for people with periodontal disease and for those who have a bad breath.
� Spiders, insects and other parasites hate the scent of peppermint essential oil. Clean the floors with a bucket of water with peppermint oil and those specific areas where spiders live spray well with the following mixture: equal amount of water and white vinegar (1:1) with 20 drops of peppermint oil.
� In order to get rid of mosquitos and ticks, apply few droplets on the outwear. Essential oil will evaporate with the help of body heat.
